This is a fantastic idea - the theory being that there's lots of people travelling to lots of places, so if everyone took just a little something to give when they got there, the world would be a slightly nicer place. Have a look, a little can go a long way... There's also a link to give you 30% off Bradt travel guides, so everyones a winner :-)

This is Steve and Callys site, another couple with a U1300L Unimog, heading off to Africa round about the same time as us. If it all goes to plan, we'll all catch up together and be able to play in the Sahara for a bit - who better to tow a Unimog out of a hole, other than another Unimog!

There's loads and loads of websites just like mine, and just like this one - diaries set up and updated by the people off doing the travelling as they go. However, I've linked this one as they have a page with fuel prices on - theory being that as and when anyone goes to a country and takes a note of how much a litre costs, they drop him an email, he puts it on a big table on his website and we're all a little the wiser for it. And folks like me who havent left yet can benefit from other people's first hand knowledge. I'm liking that a lot :-)

This is a great site if you want to take away more than a box of aspirin and a few plasters. I'd recommend you have a training session or two before you use some of the gear, but even being able to get your hands on a neck brace without paying silly money is really useful.

This is a US based company that makes jewellery that relates to malaria! It sounds a little odd, but essentially they make and internationally sell necklaces and donate 25% of the profit to charities which are working to deal with the problem. And the necklaces look good and are pretty robust, so should stand up to the rigours of travel too!
