The last couple of days we've been staying in the car park of a placed called Lion Inn, the highest pub on the Yorkshire Moors, on Blakey Ridge. Its a really handy location to have a walk around the Rosedale area, as well as the fact that the landlord doesnt mind you kipping in his carpark for a night or two as long as you're filling your belly in his restaurant - which is hardy a chore when the food is as tasty, plentiful and reasonably priced as it is!

We woke up to snow on the first morning there, just a flurry in the air, but enough to put a smile on our faces, so we piled on the layers and walked around the path of the old Rosedale railway. Its a pretty flat route for the most part, although slip-slidey and boggy up to your ankles in places, so we were glad we decided on gaiters. It should have taken us about 4 hours, but allowing for photo stops and stopping to watch a random tractor parade along the top of the ridge, it was more like 6 hours and almost full dark by the time we made it back.

We stayed one more night, mostly because we were too tired to go anywhere by that point, and then packed up the next morning preparing to leave. Just as we were about to lock up and go, there was a tap on the door - I thought it was maybe the landlord suggesting a couple of nights was the limit of his hospitality but it was a woman asking if we'd consider selling Moglet! We expalined it was possibly a little premature to be getting rid of her just yet, having only started our travels a few weeks earlier, but we took her details and said we'd email her in a few years in once we were back in the UK and looking to sell up :-)
