With slightly damp gear from the crappy campsite in Auchterarder still hanging around, plus all the soaking walking gear from being out all day in the snow yesterday, combined with no electric hook-up so no fan heater, humidity in Moglet overnight on the 19th got up to 83%! It was forming in little droplets on the ceiling and even running down the walls in places. So the best plan was to make our way to a campsite sooner rather than later and get everything dried out properly. We needed to find ourselves a Maplins somewhere though as the 24v battery monitor had gone pop. We made a slight detour into Aberdeen (much nicer than I expected, although KFC coffee continues to be awful!), and then headed back the way we came to a little village called Alyth. What a perfect contrast to the last place! Its clean, modern, spacious, lots of hot water, it even has WiFi for a small price! As ever, Moglets fixed waste tanks are a bit of a challenge as it seems anything other than trolley dolly chemical units are a bit too strange to contemplate for most sites. Other than that, which we can work around, its by far and away the nicest camp site I think we've stayed on so far, and for only £13 a night I think its a bargain. Its the Five Roads site, for anyone passing this way - not Nether Crags, which is a mile of so down the road and closed for the winter. We only planned on a night or two here, but have ended up paying for 4 as its a good place to chill out, catch up on the washing and get Moglet properly dried out. Plus update a week or so's worth of website waffle...
Next up is the Cairngorms proper, popping out the top after maybe a week, and heading in a wiggly fashion for John O'Groats. I'll keep the site as up to date as possible, internet connections in the Highlands permitting! :-)
