1-5th March - Lancaster

The Route > UK > 2009

So Monday morning we arrived at Atkinson Vos and Jason spent a good hour or two going over what needs to be done with the guys there. Some things are pretty standard, but pretty much anything that's not under the bonnet means its likley to be Moglet-specific so its sometimes a bit of trial and error and brainstorming over solutions to issues we present to them. Plus they also just happened to have a huge great airhorn on the shelves which Jason just had to have! They hooked it up to an air supply in the workshop - the justification for fitting it is partly to be able to scare randon animals out of the road when we're in Africa, but having heard the noise it makes, I think we need to get a winch fitted as well so we can clear all the carcasses out the way where animals have keeled over and died from the shock or perhaps the sonic blast through their internal organs!

Fun with horns completed, we called for a taxi and got dropped off in Lancaster town centre. We spent a few hours wandering around mostly window shopping and eating lunch, then got another cab to the hotel which is where we're now holed up.

Assuming it all goes to plan, we'll head back to the campsite near Atkinson Vos on Thursday afternoon, play with pottery on Friday and pick Moglet up before the end of the day. Next on the agenda for us is the Lake District, where we're also going to get the windscreen replaced and have the Eberspacher heater serviced - and judging by the weather reports, maybe get a bit more snow! After that, its likely to be a skim through Wales and then back to Jasons dads for fitting extra insultation, sort out what can be taken out of Moglet and find room for extra's and then head for France! We've talked about having a look around Cornwall and the West Country before we go, but the trip costs are going up and up, and with wild (free) camping so much easier outside of the UK, we really need to be getting out of the country sooner rather than later. So it looks like France, here we come!
